mud in the gear...

mud in the gear...

was what was happening at reagan park in media. randy and i got a chance to get out last week, and enjoy the slop. we were only able to do one lap, because of my time constraints, but we still had a good time.

the single speeds were covered in mud, as were we. tracktion was nihil, and the climbs were a little challenging because of this. we found out that there are two parts to the park; however we couldn't figure out where the other part was until we were on the road going home. so we will be out there riding again soon to ride it all a couple of times at least.

i have given randy the single speed bug again. so that can't be all bad. we'll try to get out on 'em more; hopefully this week some.

haven't been riding much, but my schedule has changed yet again, so i plan on riding some more. i did some 'running' around on sunday on the fixie. and it is always good getting on the fixie to do that type of stuff especially when you haven't been on a bike for a week. it really kicks your arse.

no word on my new frame, but they said something about the first of the year. also, i'm almost done with the wheel build; quicker than i thought. i'm really happy with them, and they should be kicking some arse soon.

hey, where's the tyre?

great for tracktion going up hills, and around corners. so quick you can't even see it.

the phil hubs...

phil hub

are a beautiful thing. i want to do more research into them, but notice that the bearings are on the 'outside', or are showing; rather than being stuffed inside the hub body. this is a really interesting concept.

can't wait until the bike is built.

as santa came a little early...

front wheel build...

for me; i got started on my new wheel set.

a phil hub being laced to a mavic open pro. i let rogue make the call on the spokes. i just told him how i wanted to go. i'm so original on this set that he had to figure it out himself, as opposed to using all the computer tech. that is at our finger tips. what can i say...i'm an original.

this start up took me about forty minutes. seems a lot faster than my last build. after a quick glance at the book, i was ready to go. it all came back to me in a fever of terror (sounds like a good name for a death metal band). as opposed to last wheel build where i looked over the book itself for forty minutes, until i build. so i'm as slick as crocodile snot.

until next time...

so i made...

a little trip to the rogue, and picked up some goodies. it is quite difficult riding home with a pair of rims around your shoulder, but i rode on.
is this what santa would look like if he rode a bike?

open up the baggie and see what's inside...

we also have shots of my new bag from bagaboo. great freaking bag. i hated using my backpack for going to school, so i picked up a bigger messenger bag for my commuting to school and such. so many pockets, and it has an external u-lock holder; which i love. on my other bags the u-lock would always jab my back.

i will get to what is in the bag as i get to them, but it is mostly stuff for my new project. jump for joy...wheel building time again. i must hate myself. new frame should be here the first of the year, or so they say. i'm in no hurry.

side note...i'm not doing as much riding, because of schedule changes and such; but the riding i've been doing i have found a new thing to dislike. and that is the taste of road salt in your mouth as you ride. i can take the cold. no worries there, but i freaking hate that taste that kicks up into your mouth as you ride on the rode. then you have to clean off your water bottles or else you'll get it even worst. well, what cha' going to do?
