the phil hubs...

are a beautiful thing. i want to do more research into them, but notice that the bearings are on the 'outside', or are showing; rather than being stuffed inside the hub body. this is a really interesting concept.

can't wait until the bike is built.

I've owned Phil Hubs. They use industrial sealed bearings that do a better job of keeping out crud than most internal bearing designs. It also makes them much easier to replace when it's time. Phil's service dept. is the most comprehensive and reasonably priced in the industry.

And they look very cool.

they do look very cool. do they require more service than other hubs?

that was my first thought about being easier to take care of them, because the bearings are right there.

they use heavy bearings that are easy for them to replace. They service their own stuff at reasonable prices. You should know that they have experience in building hubs for wheelchairs...they are SOLID.
