and so it is completed...

i finally finished my new ride...i.f. planet x c-cross fixed/singlespeed. i've been waiting on a chain because the cog wouldn't fit any old chain.

anyway here is a run down of the parts list...

i.f. planet x cross frame- fixed/singlespeed
phil wood hubs...rear is a flip flop for fixed and freewheel
mavic open pro rims
a 70's dura-ace crankset
avid shorty front brake
king headset
bonti stem
salsa bell lap bar
cane creek levers (rear just for show, and support)
phil wood cog
white ind. freewheel...both 16t
40t chainring
colnago seatpost
specialized saddle
hutch. cross tires
kashimax fivegold frame protector
kmc pintle chain
surly tuggnut

took it for a ride around the 'hood', and it felt great; although i didn't. weather has not been too kindly to riding lately, and i've felt that one.

i held onto my old wheelset so that it is still 'road' friendly.

here's to the new ride...

pro cycling...

takes another hit.

now what; with the pereiro dopping tests coming back positive. he stated in the articles from cycling news, and this story from velo news that he used the drug ventolin because of his asthma, and claims that the uci allowed him to do so.

too bad he can't provide the documents.

that's too bad. i liked pereiro too.

he was next in line for the yellow jersey if things went even more down hill for landis. so now do we just hope to podium, and hope that the two in front are dopers?

why do these guys think that they are able to dope and get away with it? what goes through their mind? 'hey, i've got the yellow jersey, i'm home free.' then the uci goes...'hey, he won the yellow jersey; let's test him.'

the sport is becoming a mockery...

you have...

to check this shit out...

now that is some fixed off roading...

fixed gear cross...

so here are the first pics. of the new ride.

randy and i headed down to roll: yesterday to go and pick it up. picked up the frame set, some freewheels, and frame protector; hit lunch, and came home.

i wasn't going to do anything with it yesterday, but i really didn't want to do work, and i was too anxious to do anything else. took off and cleaned everything from the steamroller, and put on it what was going on the planet x that i wanted; which was not much.

some finer points...the sterling sivler head badge, i put on some ti spacers from moots that i had laying around (who the hell has these just 'laying' around?), phil cogs, and white industries freewheel (when you just need to be 'free')

the only thing left is to get the fork cut, and get a chain on it. also, i've got to get some spacers for the hubs of the other set of wheels i have that i'm going to use for more 'road' riding.

fixed gear cross...the next frontier.

now this is...

what a big bag is used for...

a good beer run.

i do think however, that i'm going to bring my camera with me, and document the 'how' and 'where' i have to lock up my bike; because of the utter lack of bike racks in my area. i think that would make for some fun pics.

until next time...

i got done with my new wheelset today. phil hub, phil cog, laced to a mavic open pro.

the frame ought to be done next week. so i 'ought' to have a new toy just in time to get me to school, and anywhere else i want/need to go.

so i've been...

thinking about this, and i'm not sure what to think. since i haven't been paying attention to what is going on in pro-cycling, it has been brought to my attention that basso has joined team discovery.

so [why?] is my question.

i understand [why? to win], but i guess my real question is, where does that leave leipheimer? i knew that hincapie {and congrats to him on winning the u.s. championship} is not the team leader, but i thought that was what leipheimer was going to do. i mean isn't that why he left u.s. postal to begin with? so i guess i'm confused; what will be leipheimer's roll be?

we here...

have two essential things for winter riding this year.

what we have first is the swobo merino wool jersey. it's a great light weight wool jersey. great comfortable fit. the cuffs are double stiched, and so is the collar. the collar comes up a little on the neck; which is nice. three rear pockets, as normal. i have a couple of wool jersey's, and they don't fit and feel like this one. i don't wear one of my wools; because it itches like crazy, and that's not fun. my other synthetic is fit for colder weather; which hasn't been the case lately here in cleveland.

this other swobo product is their merino beanie. i was able to use this on a cold road ride about a month or so ago. i opted to take this instead of my skull cap; which i've been looking to replace with another skull cap. my old cap just doesn't fit right, and i don't know if that is because it is because of age or the way that it was made. also, as i sweat it really bothers my head; again that comfortable issue as i ride. however; this was amazing. it didn't bother my head as i rode, it kept my head warmer than my old cap, and it goes down the neck further than the cap.

so if your looking for some really good winter or cool riding gear; these are my recommendations.

enjoy the ride...
