the question remains...
the same. what is the greatest advancement of the bicycle to date, and why? is it frame geometry? frame material? any material? wheels? suspension? disc brakes? again...i encourage you to send this blog or even ask others you know that ride their answers to this question. this is a very interesting question, and i would love to know what people think. us riders often sit around and drool over the "latest and greatest," but is it? does it really advance our sport/recreation? what on your bike or something that you want on your bike makes you a better rider?
i have discussed this with one of my classes...what is the difference between philosophy and science? they are the same in one respect...they both deal with universals. they are objective. we are all able to agree with certain scientific facts. standing on this earth, and letting go an object (say, a pen) it will fall to the ground. gravity. staying with one of my favorite philosophers, david hume, there are certain rules of this physical world; which all objects obey. physics. mathematics. for example.
now philosophy is also universal, and objective. philosophy is the question. i don't know if i am able to stress this enough. it is the question. the question is universal and objective. it is something that we are all able to agree on. the question itself. no matter what the question is. it is only from the answer we diverge. even if we ask the ever famous cartesian question about mind and body. we either accept it or reject it. but the question is able to be asked to all.
